The mathematically perfect spiral of the Nautilus shell has been admired since ancient Greek times…and in more recent times by wine lovers in NZ and around the world!
This is the Nautilus Estate Chardonnay from Marlborough and, well, pretty much like everything they produce it’s all class! It scored 5 Stars with critic Michael Cooper who said “This wine is typically mostly estate-grown and hand-harvested at Renwick, in the Wairau Valley, and fermented and matured in French oak barriques (20-25 per cent new). Bright, light yellow/green, the 2022 vintage (5*) is mouthfilling, fleshy and savoury, with ripe stonefruit flavours, balanced acidity, and excellent depth, vigour, complexity and harmony. Already open and expressive, it should break into full stride mid-2025+.”
First launched in 1985 as a premium, family owned NZ winery. These days Nautilus are part of a bigger (and very prestigious) family – The Family of Twelve.
Twelve of NZ’s most iconic, successful wineries that share information, ideas and even the odd secret or two. The top brass of NZ wineries sit round this table – Villa Maria, Kumeu River, Millton, Craggy Range, Ata Rangi, Palliser Estate, Neudorf, Lawsons, Fromm, Pegasus Bay, Felton Road and Nautilus.
