One of New Zealand’s best Chardonnay producers, one of New Zealand’s top Chardonnay labels! The single vineyard Keltern Chardonnay from the Keltern vineyard in Hawke’s Bay was planted in 1999 and a little over twenty years later it’s won countless Trophies, Gold medals and Five Star reviews.

Part of Villa Maria’s top tier of wines (called ‘The Icons’) Keltern Chardonnay is all class and while you can enjoy it on release, there’s no hurry and it’ll certainly hit its straps after a couple of years in bottle. A powerful, richly flavoured, slightly smoky, complex style that is sure to impress any Chardonnay lover – especially those with expensive taste!

You only have to glance at the gongs to see what a class act this is 2021 is. Scoring 96/100 with Rebecca Gibb, Master of Wine, who said “”Sumptuous is probably a good word to describe the ripe and creamy, full body but don’t get the impression this is a soft pudding of a wine. Its rich power is held like a vice, keeping its shape and allowing for a firm, almost relentless finish. In the elite of New Zealand Chardonnays, the 2021 proves it rightly deserves its place.””

Kelter is also classified as a “Super Classic” by wine critic Michael Cooper. To make Michael Cooper’s Super Classic list you’ve got to be top dog and have achieved scores of “Excellence” in at least five vintages.
