Sileni Estate was born in 1997 and co-founded by Kiwi businessman, philanthropist (and wine lover!) and official Hawke’s Bay legend Sir Graeme Avery. Named after the Sileni that features in Greek mythology who followed Dionysus, the God of Wine. They celebrated good wine, good food and good company. Now we’re talkin’.
To celebrate their 25th vintage Sileni jazzed up their labels and released their new “Grand Reserve” range using some of their best fruit from specific sites and sub regions in Hawke’s Bay and beyond.
This is their Advocate Grand Reserve Albariño (pronounced al-bar-een-yoh) and while its a variety best known in Spain and Portugal there are a heap of Kiwi producers planting it these days…and with bloody good success!
This latest 2024 release is an absolute beauty and winner of not one but TWO Trophies on the NZ wine show circuit! Winner of a Double Gold medal at the NZ International Wine Show 2024 (meaning every senior judge scored it a Gold medal) before going on to win the Trophy for Champion Other White Wine Varieties!
Then a few weeks later it did it again winning Trophy for Champion Other White Wine Varieties at the Hawke’s Bay Wine Awards 2024!
The judges at the NZIWS said “Aromatic and full-bodied a super tasty wine with ripe tropical fruit, floral characters and a hint of spice.”
Enjoy chilled from the fridge and if you’re pairing with a feed it’s got to be fresh kai moana!
