Well known for producing amazeballs Sauvignon Blanc but Jules’ obsession with Marlborough doesn’t end there.
Her team’s hard graft with other varietals like Chardonnay, Rose and Pinot Gris are exactly why Jules and her team have such a big following that borders on cult like!
Jules steers clear of those big, OTT buttery bomb styles from the 1990s (that put people off Chardonnay and played a big part in the infamous Anything But Chardonnay club) and goes for a style that’s more about elegance, freshness and attractive pure fruit flavours in a lightly oaked style.
In her own words Jules says “Chardonnay is one of the unsung heroes of Marlborough but also a wine that can divide the room!…With only 10% new oak and a partial malolactic ferment, this elegant wine that will convert even the most die-hard chardonnay-basher!”
Scoring 4 Stars with NZ critic Michael Cooper who said “Finely crafted for easy, early drinking, but ageworthy too, the 2023 vintage was grown at two sites in the Southern Valleys, and fermented in tanks and oak barrels. Bright, light lemon/green, it is full-bodied and vibrantly fruity, with fresh, citrusy, slightly peachy flavours to the fore, mealy notes adding a distinct touch of complexity, balanced acidity and a well-rounded finish. Still very youthful, it should be at its best 2026+”
