Penfolds Father Grand Tawny 10 Year Old. Not to be confused with the Grand Father Tawny ($100+) or the Great Grandfather Tawny ($230+).
The youngest in the family tree of Tawnies at Penfolds HQ but as Chief wine bloke at Penfolds Peter Gago calls it, “Grand in classification, Grand in age, Grand in style.” We reckon it’s pretty grand alright, just with a price tag that’s anything but!
Selected from various wines across their South Australian vineyards, across multiple vintages (as many as 15 different vintages), then aged in seasoned old oak casks for an average of ten years.
Gago reckons the Father Grand Tawny is all sweet fruitcake flavours, raisins and plums. We just think it’s down right delicious and the little treat you know you deserve but rarely think to treat yourself to!
