Hennessy. A name sure to roll off the tongue in any conversation about Cognac. Or fancy pants luxury brands. After all, they produce 40% of the world’s Cognac (if you’re wondering that’s about 50 million bottles a year!) plus they’re owned by one of the world’s iconic luxury brands – Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy!
Cognac is an area in south-western France where this luxury brandy is made. VSOP stands for “Very Superior Old Pale”. Hennessy’s VSOP is a blend of about 60 different eaux-de-vie made from Ugni Blanc grapes from the Borderies, Fins Bois, Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne appellations that are aged four to fifteen years in French Limousin oak barrels. Not shortcuts taken here, this is a class act for the money!
Much like their wine France also has a grading system for their Cognac. To be a “VSOP” cognac the youngest brandy in the blend has to be aged for at least four years.
Damn, you're looking young for your age!
