They call him the Phantom. A ghostly figure seen wandering through the Bogle cellars at night. You might catch a glimpse of muddy work boots and dirty blue jeans. It could be the winemaker, it could be a phantom.
The Bogle family are a sixth generation farming family. The first generation in 1870 moved to California from Tennessee and set about trying to grow cherries, peaches and pears. Sadly that failed for the Bogles, but better things were to follow…grapes!
Best known for their big, fat, buttery styles Chardonnay – this is their Phantom Red that’s gained a bit of a cult like following over the years and usually only available in very limited supply. A near 50/50 blend of Californian Petite Sirah and Zinfandel and aged a whopping 28 months in American oak before release.
