Michael Cooper’s “Wine Buyer’s Guide” is like the annual bible that wine lovers religiously flock to for guidance of good slurping for the year ahead.
As well as slurping his way through thousands of wines every year (tough job right?) he’s also short listed “25 Not-to-be-missed New Zealand Wines”. He picked Church Road Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon in that incredible list of great wines and great value wines.
Coops said “If there is a better value, claret-style red made in New Zealand than this reliable performer, I haven’t tasted it. From one vintage to the next, this Merlot-based, barrel-matured blend is sturdy and full-flavoured“. Wow, big praise from one of NZ’s most iconic wine critics!
A blend of Merlot with a dash of Cabernet, this is a full bodied red with lots of delicious dark, rich fruits. What’s not to love? For the best food match we reckon pair this style with your favourite Sunday roasts.
