Mt Difficulty are one of the king pins of Central Otago wine – especially Pinot Noir. And they use those very same (and much loved) Pinot Noir grapes from the Bannockburn sub region to craft this classy Pinot Noir Rose.
Named after the mountain that over looks the vineyard. Yawn, not another wine that draws inspiration from a nearby river, mountain or bush!
But this mountain plays a big part in producing this world class wine. It helps block the cool winds from Wakatipu Basin and Gibbston Valley and in turn helps the Pinot Noir grape, which can be a fussy little bugger to grow at the best of times, flurrish.
A lighter, more pale salmon colour than the previous vintages and a drier style. As they said down there at Mt Difficulty HQ – “Our aim is to craft a delectable, savoury, dry Rosé.”
Chill it down and serve with your favourite salads, white meats and fish dishes. Rosé made from quality Pinot Noir grapes like this will comfortably last up to four years from vintage.
