From a boutique Martinborough (that’s the Wairarapa…aka north of Wellington) family owned and operated estate run by Michael Finucane and Roz Walker.

Michael admits “I’m very cynical about wine competitions“. Shhhhh…don’t tell him, but the last vintage was Michael Cooper’s Best Buy Red of the Year and also won a Gold medal at the NZ International Wine Show 2019, 2021 and 2022!

That kind of consistently hasn’t been missed with NZ wine critic Michael Cooper listing it as a “Potential Classic NZ wine”.

This is all hand picked fruit from their Hinakura Vineyard. Aged 11 month in oak it’s a full bodied, dark and powerful style Pinot packed with dark berry and cherry fruit flavours, licorice and spice. It’s absolutely delicious and we’re sure if Michael did pop this one into wine shows, it’d come away with bling!

This’ll comfortably cellar for several years yet so enjoy some now, tuck some away for another day.
