Andrew Garrett started as a young buck working as a cellar hand in the 1970s. By 1984 and at the young age of 26 he launched his own wine label. By the early 1990s his wines and marketing know-how had built his business up to the tune of $23 million worth and an annual turn over of $12 million a year.
“I’m much more interested in making wine and enjoying myself…Running the business should be the job of business people.” said Andrew. So that’s what he did – stepping down and letting business people do their thing while he got on with the job of enjoying himself. Probably over a flute or two of this great value Sparkling Shiraz.
Sparkling Shiraz was first produced in Aussie in 1881 by the Victorian Champagne Company (it’s not Champagne but they got away with it!) and its grown to become a bit of an Aussie staple.
Using fruit from across the South Australian region and aged in French and American oak for a minimum of 12 months. It’s all fresh red berries, sweet spice and dark chocolate flavours in a flute! Serve chilled and pair with like meats like chicken, turkey and ham. Yes, this makes a great wine to crack open at Christmas!
