ARA Wine Estates were New Zealand’s largest single vineyard estate owned by the Todd Family. You might’ve heard of them? They’re worth a few bob. A few years ago they got bought by three brothers from another family, the Giesens. You might of heard of them? They’re also worth a few bob.
This is the top of the range Sauvignon Blanc under the ARA label and was originally crafted to sell around the $40 mark. The Giesen guys have got plans to revamp the ARA labels – so out goes the Resolute at a ridiculous price!
There’s no shortcuts taken here, this is top tier for a reason. Using fruit from a few of the best rows in this single vineyard in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley, they put their best foot forward on everything they do in producing this one and packed in a heavy embossed bottle.
Scoring a highly respectable 94/100 and Top Rank award (it was ranked in the Top 30 Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs from the 2018 vintage) by The Real Review’s Huon Hooke.
Huon said “Light to mid-yellow colour, with green herb and lemon verbena aromas, fragrant and varietal without being over-the-top. Faint mid-palate sweetness enhances its fruitiness. A lovely drink and refreshing at the finish.”
An extremely classy Marlborough SauvyB for the money. Get into it.
