Armand de Brignac Gold Brut aka The Ace of Spades aka that Champagne brand that American rapper Jay-Z bought!

After a public falling out with another prestige Champagne brand Jay-Z (aka Shawn Carter) partnered with Armand de Brignac before buying them outright in 2014, making him the first rapper to outright own a champagne label! By 2019 about half a million bottles were being sold worldwide – as the man himself put it “I’m 50 percent of D’Ussé and it’s debt-free / 100 percent of Ace of Spades, worth half a B”.

In 2021 Jay-Z sold 50% of his stake to the world’s leading luxury brand company LVMH – joining other world leading Champagne names like Dom Perignon, Krug, Ruinart, Veuve Clicquot and Moet & Chandon.

Attention to detail and quality is everything and this has it in, well, spades! From harvest to pressing, riddling, disgorging and labeling a team of just 18 people are involved. A blend of three vintages and stored in some of Champagne’s deepest cellars at almost 100ft underground!

Armand de Brignac Gold Brut is famous for its golden bottle design these are dressed with a unique metal coating and each one done by hand. They’re polished and fitted with four French pewter labels and with only 20 bottles able to be done per person per hour, no two bottles are the same.

Armand de Brignac is also known to have one of the most extensive lists of large format bottles in Champagne – including their whopper 30 Litre “Midas” bottle, weighing in at about 45kg and likely to set you back around $130,000!
