Sold out! No new 2016 vintage made by Ata Rangi

What was once a stony sheep paddock back in the 80s (bought by a stash of cash from the sale of herd cows) has become one of Martinborough’s premier wine labels, up there with NZ’s best and has a glowing international reputation to boot.

Ata Rangi have two very classy Chardys in their line-up. The Craighall is their powerhouse, complex style from 30 year old vines – while the Petrie is what they like to call their more “juicy, bright and vibrant” style from a vineyard site some 20 minutes drive north of Martinborough.

It’s still had the rolls royce treatment you’d expect from an Ata Rangi label – hand picked fruit, whole bunch pressed, fermented in Burgundian barriques (fancy French oak barrels) with partial malolactic fermentation. If you’re into the more flinty, minerally style of Chardy (like those from Burgundy in France) this has got your name all over it. Drink it now or cellar to 2022.
