2024 Winery of the Year – James Halliday’s Wine Companion – “There’s an argument to say that the Bleasdale winery, both historically and most certainly at the hand of winemaker Paul Hotker, should be regarded as every Australian wine lover’s best friend.”
Bleasdale were the first winery established in the Langhorne Creek sub region way back in the 50’s….1850’s that is! Named after the road (Wellington) that connects the Langhorne Creek to the Murray River, and the road Bleasdale has sat since 1850.
Winner of the 2024 Cabernet Shiraz Blends of the Year in Halliday’s Wine Companion. You can’t for love ‘nor money get your mits on a bottle of this stuff across the ditch – the phone was ringing hot at the winery after news of this one came out and as a result it’s entirely sold out.
A very small shipment made its way across the ditch and we were lucky enough to lay our hands on some.
Scoring 98 Points with Halliday who said “A blend of 52/48 per cent shiraz (destemmed) and cabernet sauvignon (crushed); eight to 12 days on skins and 12 months in French puncheons (25 per cent new). Winemaker Paul Hotker made full use of a brilliant growing season and harvest, with a juicy and sleek palate redolent with red and black fruits that caress every time you return to the supple mouthfeel and lingering finish.”
Drink now to 2040 and pair with your best Beef Wellington!
