The Brennan family were one of the first in Central Otago’s Gibbston Valley to plant vines back in the mid 90s. For many years Sean (the winemaker, aka Mr Brennan) sold their fruit to Peregrine just down the road. Given how kick arse Peregrine’s wines are that’s a real testament to these guys.
They’re famous for their Pinot Noir (with some seriously big international accolades in the trophy cabinet) and have even been snapped being guzzled on a hit TV show in the US (Big Bang Theory). But they also produce an awesome range of aromatic style wines, like this 2019 vintage Riesling.
They often hold back their top wines for two or three years, releasing them when they’re drinking at their best. It’s the sort of thing you can do when you’re small and family owned without the corporate accountant breathing down your neck.
This is full of ripe citrus and pear fruit flavours with a dry finish – and it’s got good cellaring potential too! How long? We reckon this should be good for a decade from vintage. But don’t let that stop you tucking into a bottle or two now, it’s delicious!
Damn, you're looking young for your age!
