Every year the world famous Champagne Billecart-Salmon produces base wines from more parcels than it actually needs for the production of its main cuvées. Some of the wines are bottled to be part of their secondary label called Charles Le Bel.
Charles Le Bel is served in top end Parisian bistros and First Class airlines in France – it’s Billecart without the big price tag, it’s the Baby Billecart!
Scoring 95/100 with Master of Wine Bob Campbell for the Real Review (and ranked #28 from over 250 non vintage French Champagnes tasted) – Bob said “Tasted blind alongside a top English fizz (Digby) at the same price, and I must confess that France won on that occasion. It just seemed to have more finesse, an ethereal texture and a finer, creamier mouth-feel. Both were very impressive sparkling wines.”
