Chateau Ploizeau Cuvee Excellence Bordeaux

Chateau Ploizeau are a family owned estate in the world famous Bordeaux region of France. They’ve been knocking out bloody good value, classic Bordeaux style reds for four generations with Monsieur Frédéric Bellot now running the show. Here’s a top tip – Frederic spent 8 years at the First Growth Chateau Haut-Brion! First as a trainee then as an assistant winemaker, returning to the family business in 2014.

A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet this is classic Bordeaux blend with ripe, luscious Merlot and dark black fruited Cabernet giving the wine a bit of backbone.

Chateau Ploizeau are a member of the VIF (Vignerons indépendants de France) – a wine group setup to help the little guy! They have six rules that all members must be able to tick off (that many of the big guys simply can’t) including rolling up your sleeves and working in the vineyard yourself, harvesting your own grapes, aging the wine yourself and bottling the wine yourself.
