Tour de Luchey. It’s like the Tour de France but less men in lycra and a whole lot more delicious silky, plush Bordeaux red wine.
Luchey actually means “usher” in old French and it was the usher’s job to inspect the loads of wine leaving Bordeaux for the Royal Courts. “Inspecting” – hmm, sounds like fun to us that’s for sure!
From a 16 hectare property that’s been family owned for five generations situated in the district of Moulin on the banks of the River Dordogne (for the French wine geeks who love to know every detail!). The village is known for its medieval tower, which is featured on the label.
A predominantly Merlot blend (80%) with the classic Bordeaux varieties of Cabernet Franc (10%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) making up the rest. A medium bodied, silky, plush style with ripe red fruit flavours and a touch of spice. It’s a classic match to grilled and charred red meats, roast beef or beef stew, lamb and pork.
