Church Road 1 Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Single vineyard wines, hand crafted in small batches and all bottles individually numbered. This is the 2021 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon using fruit from their Gimblett Gravels vineyards, aged 18 months in French oak.

Scoring a whopper rating of 96/100 with Master of Wine Bob Campbell who said “Dense, almost chewy red with rich, chocolate/mocha, cassis, blackberry, blackcurrant and cedar supported by ripe tannins and gently vibrant acidity. Can be appreciated now but will improve with careful cellaring. “

Scoring 5 Stars with Michael Cooper who said “The classy, fragrant 2021 vintage (5*) was estate-grown in the Gimblett Gravels, matured for 18 months in French oak barriques, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Dark and purple-flushed, it is mouthfilling, with concentrated, ripe, blackcurrant-evoking flavours, seasoned with nutty oak, refined tannins, and the structure to mature well for a decade – or longer.”

It’s a true full blooded style Cabernet full of plush dark fruit flavours with cedar and spice. Enjoy this “1” now but it’s crafted with the long term in mind too – cellar up to 15 years from vintage.
