From Provence in France to Navarra in Spain to Central Otago in Aotearoa to Washington in the US – wine lovers have been guzzling Rosé in growing numbers across all four corners of the globe. An incredibly versatile style and produced from many different grapes the world all over – there’s a style of pink for every palate that’s for sure.
In Italy they called it “Rosato” and it’s often produced from grapes native to Italy. Codici Rosato is from Puglia (the heel bit of Italy when you look at it on a map) and 100% produced from the Negroamaro grape. From this part of the Rosé wine world their wines are coppery coloured with cherry and orange zest flavours.
And like many of their whites the Italians love their Rosato to finish long, crisp and dry. A super refreshing style when nicely chilled and it’ll be of little surprise to hear it pairs with Italian food like cured meats, pasta and a good old pizza!
