The grape Carmenere (car-men-yare) is actually a variety that originated in France and found its way to Chile, where it’s fair to say has become the best place in the world to grow it.

Carmenere loves Chile and we love Carmenere. If you’re new to this grape variety, why not start with something a little bit bloody good? We’ve long thought this variety is way, way under rated by Kiwi wine drinkers and the entry level (Concha Y Toro Diablo Carmenere) wine around $15 is a beaut, this is a big step up in quality and class.

Concha Y Toro are the biggest name when it comes to Chilean wine and it’s no surprise they were voted No.1 Chilean wine brand at the International Wine Challenge in 2019.

Produced from vineyards at the historic Peumo vineyards in the Rapel Valley, 170m above sea level, and aged sixteen months in oak. This is a big, deep and dark full flavoured red full of dark spices and herbs. It’s absolutely delish. Pair it with big steaks and other red meats dishes.
