“It slips down the throat as easily as the Infant Jesus in velvet pants”, said a bunch of Carmelite nuns after knocking back a new wine from their vineyard. You might find yourself saying the same thing after trying Cooper’s Creek take on this classic Italian wine – Montepulciano (pronounced Mon-teh-puhl-cha-no).
Crafted right on the winery doorstep in Huapai, north west Auckland, Simon (the winemaker) has had awesome success experimenting with different styles of wines not native to NZ. As the name might suggest, this wine is velvety smooth as well as having loads of delicious dark berry and plum fruit flavours with a touch of spice. It’s also great with red meats, game and pasta dishes.
And if you’re wondering who Guido is – it’s Simon’s dog! Why Guido would be wearing velvet pants, that’s another matter altogether!
Damn, you're looking young for your age!
