This is Coopers Creek Metals & Gravels – formerly known as Gravels & Metals and now Metals and Gravels again. Confused much? Well, what’s inside the bottle is the main thing and this is Bordeaux style red label under their ‘Select Vineyard’ series showcasing wines from a variety of regions and sub regions.

One thing that’s never changed is this is a Hawke’s Bay red blend using soft, lucious, juicy Merlot (60%) and dark fruited, spicy Malbec (40%) from the Bridge Pa (aka Metals) and Gimblett Gravels (aka Gravels) sub regions.

This has been a reliable NZ Bordeaux style red over the years and this 2020 release (a good vintage in Hawke’s Bay) is no different. It’s got loads of vibrantly fruity, ripe plum and blackcurrant flavours with a touch of spice.

We hear it’s just the style of red to pair with lamb, beef or venison. Or how about a hearty spag bol? Drink now through to 2025.
