You would never have guessed it but this winery sits right alongside a set of crossroads down in Hawke’s Bay wine country. Where do they come up with these crazy names?
Yep, this is Crossroads and for over 25 years they’ve been making top notch Hawke’s Bay wine. This is their “Winemakers Collection” which means it’s the flash stuff you’d get served if you ever got invited round the winemaker’s place for dinner.
Using fruit from their Elms Vineyard there in the world famous Gimblett Gravels, this is aged 14 months in oak to produce a high quality rich, powerful Syrah with silky tannins and a touch of spice. Seriously, it’s all class and has real potential to stay in your cellar for up to a decade from vintage.
Oh, and if you did get the invite round for dinner at the winemaker’s place get set to be served pan seared, rare NZ venison fillet with plum glaze. That’s his pick for the perfect wine and food pairing here.
Damn, you're looking young for your age!
