One of the most incredible Cabernet deals under $20 we’ve seen in ages! Trophy winning, 96 point winning Cabernet Sauvignon and ranked No.1 McLaren Vale Cabernet from the 2021 vintage! Quite simply a stonker Aussie red buy for the money!
d’Arenberg are one of the McLaren Vale’s most iconic producers. Heck, you don’t get invited to the table of Australia’s First Families Of Wine without being a bit important. They join legendary names like Henschke, Yalumba, Brown Brothers, Taylors, Tyrells and more.
This is their famous High Trellis label which gets its name as the vineyard was planted in the 19th century and was the first in the region to be trained above knee height.
This 2021 vintage of The High Trellis is an extremely special bottle of Cabernet for a seriously good price…
95/100, Top Rank Award, Top Value Award & Buy of the Week (Huon Hooke, The Real Review, February 2024)
“This wine has won a trophy in open company so it’s no surprise that it came up trumps in our tasting. The surprise is the price. Who says all cellaring reds are expensive? Very deep, glass-staining purple colour; the bouquet is of bright, fresh primary fruit in the blackberry/cassis range backed by smart fresh, cedary oak. It’s a very concentrated wine with density and power, fruit doing most of the talking, The palate is very lively, vibrant, driving and long, and promises much for the future. Cellaring recommended. Outstanding value!”

96/100 & Trophy Champion McLaren Vale Cabernet (James Halliday’s Chardonnay & Cabernet Challenge 2023)
“This delivers a lot for a meagre tariff.”
A Cabernet for Cabernet lovers – although old skool Aussie Shiraz lovers will absolutely love the very dark purple, glass staining colour and the obvious power this red packs. If you prefer your reds on the lighter side – step aside!
Top Aussie wine critic Huon Hooke reckons this one will comfortably for 15+ years from vintage. Buy some, drink some and definitely cellar some.
