De Laumont is a new French Rosé that’s hit our warehouse and we think you’ll agree this is packing a whole heap of bang for your buck in every glass! A deliciously dry style that looks the part and definitely tastes the part, it’s ticking plenty of boxes.
From vineyards at the foothills of the Montagne Noire (Black Mountain range) in Languedoc-Rousillon, southern France, and crafted by Xavier Roger. It was sourced and imported into NZ by Master of Wine Steve Bennett, Steve tells use Xavier is a guy that’s made a career from producing classic style French wines at extremely affordable prices.
Picked as a Buy of the Week and a rating of 94/100 by another Master of Wine Bob Campbell.
Bob said “This intriguing wine reminds me of a southern French winery I visited some years ago. During a tasting of their wines, I had trouble describing a distinctive and attractive flavour that formed a common link between most of them. The owner disappeared for a few minutes, returning with a small bunch of herbs that smelled exactly like the mystery aroma in her wines. The grapes had picked up the aroma of the garrigue or scrubland growing between the vine rows.”
“It is difficult to define the flavour profile of this delicious wine. Imagine strawberry and apricot with a hint of floral character (rose petal) and a suggestion of herbs and spices and you are starting to get close. It is dry but slightly succulent. A very good example of southern French Rose.”
