Ruinart proudly stake claim to being the world’s first producers of Champagne in 1730. Prior to Ruinart coming along all wine that was transported long distances was in barrels, so you unless you wanted your fizz flat Champagne was for locals only. In 1730 the clever chap that started Ruinart (Nicholas) ordered the first shipment of “wine with bubbles” in bottles – and hey presto the world was introduced to Champagne!
The Dom Ruinart label was first released in 1966 (using grapes from the 1959 vintage. Being “Blanc de Blancs” means it’s made entirely from Chardonnay – in this case only Chardonnay from select Grand Cru vineyards like Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims vineyards. Aged on average for a decade before release, this is the the crème de la crème of Blanc de Blancs Champagne!
