The Lafite Rothschild family are a sixth generation producer and essentially Bordeaux wine making royalty! The Lafite history actually dates back to the 1700s with the wine being guzzled by the wealthy London elite including Robert Walpole, regarded as Great Britain’s first ever Prime Minister, who bought a barrel of Lafite every few months.
For about three decades now they’ve been producing the “Les Legendes R” range (originally called the Reserve de Barons) – an every day drinking, good value for money range of Bordeaux whites and reds. Rest assure, nothing ends up under with a Domaine Barons de Rothschild label slapped on it without ticking plenty of boxes!
This is the classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%) and Merlot (50%) from the Entre-deux-Mers region in the south east of Bordeaux.
A delicious medium to full bodied red with with plush, juicy redcurrant fruit flavours and a touch of spice. Aged for 9 months in oak and released with a bit of bottle age already under its belt, these are wines made to drink now rather than long term cellaring.
If you’re food matching think roast chicken, roast lamb, venison, duck breast or beef based dishes.
Damn, you're looking young for your age!
