Ándale! Ándale! Get a move on! This is an absolute stonker of a deal on this full blooded red from Mendoza, Argentina.
You’ll find this one around the traps in the $17-19 region – clearly our price of $12.99 is loco! The importer is over stocked and they didn’t muck around when it came to sharpening the pencil on price. Take advantage!
Dona Paula are a top Argentinian producer and “Los Cardos” is one of the labels they produce. Los Cardos literally means ‘The Thistles’ in Spanish and while most of us find them an annoying prick of a weed, they’re actually a really good sign of terroir in a vineyard.
Using fruit from high altitude vineyards (and we mean high – over 3,400 feet above sea level) this is a medium to full bodied Cabernet full of dark, spicy red and black fruit flavours with a long, smooth finish.
It’s seriously too good for the money so buy a case or three now and stash them away to quaff over summer, winter, next summer, next winter and beyond. It’ll be good to stored for another 2 or 3 years yet so no rush.
Oh and if you’re looking for an ideal wine and food match for this one – do it Argy style. Steak with oven-roasted vegetables and fresh herb chimichurri!
Damn, you're looking young for your age!
