“We created a special range of Primitivo wines to bring that certain something extra to you table: Intense in color and even richer in aroma, for that extra level of indulgence.”
Doppio Passo is an Italian wine name that’s been around for over 100 years now and they’re a big believer that drinking good wine doesn’t need to be complicated. We’re all about that.
This is their Riserva label and an obvious step up in class from their classic Primitivo. Using grapes from the Manduria subregion of Puglia (known for its extra level of depth and richness), it’s aged for 24 months of which at least 9 months are in oak barrel.
The result is a powerful, smooth, fruit-saturated Primitivo with intense berry flavours and rich, rounded tannins. Pair it with red meats and strong, mature cheeses.
Here’s a fun Primitivo fact – the name Primitivo comes from the Latin word “primativus” and the old Italian word “primaticcio,” whichg mean “early ripener” or “first to ripen.”
