A seriously classy bottle of Sauvignon – available in NZ for the first time!
Earthsong is an export label lead by Master of Wine Giles Cooke for the UK and Aussie markets. Using high quality fruit from a single vineyard in Dillon’s Point in Marlborough’s lower Wairau Valley, as Cooke explains they specifically chose this very special site…
“Over 20 years ago, one of New Zealand’s most revered winemakers was sourcing some of his best fruit from a plot in Dillons Point West. Next to this small plot was an organic apple orchard which, upon further investigation, had the same free-draining alluvial soil profile. Having approached the owner of the orchard, he managed – after much persuasion – to get him to grub up the orchard and plant it all to Sauvignon Blanc. The belief that the site had the potential to be a ‘Grand Cru’ for Marlborough Sauvignon was borne out when, in the first few vintages, the fruit was made into a wine that scooped a string of national awards“
This is a bottle of high quality SauvyB that the Brits and Aussies are shelling out a premium for – in the UK for on average £17, in Aussie around AUD$30 per bottle.
Plus it’s got the backing of two local critics…
94/100, Top Rank Award & Top Value Award (Bob Campbell MW)
“Fine-grained, punchy… I love its exquisite tension.”
95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
“Powerfully expressed… wonderfully flavoursome.”
