Har and Sophie Eradus, and their two kids, were originally in the flower business in Holland but in 1982 they moved to NZ. After 20 years of dealing with bunches of flowers it was time to get their hands on bunches of another kind, grapes!
In 2004 Hanna and Michiel Eradus took over the reigns. When cleaning out an old shed at the winery one day they came across an old pot belly door with an embossed logo. Wiping it down, it revealed the letters “H, S and E” – Har and Sophie Eradus maybe? Spooky!
Their Pinot Noir is produced from vineyard sites in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley. They’ll tell you it’s got berry, cherry and plum fruit flavours with silky tannins and herby characters – we just reckon this is a primo example of Marlborough Pinot from a quality producer that seriously flies under the radar. It’s screaming out to be opened with a lump of lamb seasoned in rosemary!
