The Clayvin Vineyard in Marlborough was established in 1993 and quite frankly can boast producing some of the best Pinot Noir (and Chardonnay) in Aotearoa.
Giesen’s Single Vineyard Pinot Noir from the Clayvin vineyard sits among NZ’s elite Pinot names – typically selling in $60-65 price bracket.
They don’t cut any corners when it comes to this Pinot. Only one bottle of Clayvin Pinot Noir can be produced per vine, all the fruit is hand picked and basket pressed, an expensive and labour intense winemaking technique to ensure high quality.
This 2021 vintage took out THREE Trophies at the Marlborough Wine Show 2024 including Champion Pinot Noir, Champion Organic Wine and Champion Southern Valleys Wine!
Also scoring a whopping 96/100 in James Halliday’s Wine Companion who said “This is drinking beautifully but designed also for the long haul. Black cherry skin and dried currants. There is everything to love in this ’21 vintage. Vibrancy, succulence and FLAVOUR, flavour for days. Divine.”
A full bodied, rich, complex style – this is one for the true Pinot lovers. Enjoy and savour it now, but it’ll be good to be kept tucked away in the cellar up until around 2035.
