A whisky for the VVIP whisky lover. Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1997 is the seventh limited edition release in their award winning Bond House No.1 Collection.
A journey that first started in the 1980s where Glenmorangie whisky makers travelled to Missouri’s Ozark Mountains, where trees grow slower, to hand select American white oaks that would naturally bring more creaminess to their whisky. Barrels were then made to precise specifications and seasoned with select bourbon.
The Grand Vintage Malt 1997, bottled in 2021, is dramatically different to any other Glenmorangie release seen before. Initially aged for 10 years in ex-Bourbon casks it then spent the next 13 years in ex-red wine cask from Château Montrose in Saint-Estèphe, Bordeaux. These casks were so rare only a handful could be sourced.
Dr Bill Lumsden is the director of all things whisky at Glenmorangie and this is what he had to say about this ’97 release. “The Glenmorangie Grand Vintage 1997 is dramatically different: lively with aromas of red berries, seductive spice, melting marzipan and floral notes. Inspired by my dream of expressive single malts and in the spirit of the kaleidoscopic style of Glenmorangie.”
