With the cost of pretty much everything going up right now value for money is what everyone’s after. We spend our days tasting wine after wine (it’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it), swirling and spitting our way through the good, the bad and everything in between to find wines that way over deliver, no matter the price.
This is a Pinot that’s been packing a punch for several vintages in a row now. A regular Gold and Silver medal winner on the Kiwi wine circuit and this latest ’21 vintage hasn’t disappointed.
Made by Grove Mill who are part of the Foley group of winemaking teams that include the likes of Mt.Difficulty, Vavasour, Te Kairanga and Martinborough Vineyards.
These guys take sustainability seriously. From using lightweight recycled NZ glass bottles to labels produced from sugarcane (a highly renewable material that utilises an abundant by-product) to the winery being powered by over 300 solar panels.
Using fruit from their flagship 17 Valley vineyard and aged for 10 months in French oak this is a medium to full bodied, supple style full of dark cherry and berry flavours with a bit of spice. This is a Pinot that would put some $25+ priced Pinots to shame!
