Trophy. Trophy. Trophy. Gold. Gold. Gold. 95/100. 95/100. From an outstanding 2022 vintage. Selling for close to AUD$50 per bottle across the ditch. Extremely limited stocks available in the NZ market.
In terms of sheer value for money the Longview Macclesfield Syrah from the Adelaide Hills is quite some buy! If you’re not slipping a case (or two – see above, it’s very limited!) into your cart right now you are seriously going to miss out on one incredibly good, incredibly delicious Aussie red!
And do no adjust your sets – YES, the wine is labelled as Syrah and not Shiraz and for good reason too. This is a true cool climate Syrah and very different to the classic big, high alcohol Aussie Shiraz style. You’d have to say even at close to AUD$50 per bottle this is a wine that justifies its price tag with an outstanding line up of gongs…

“Deep but bright colour. Combines elegance and finesse with an effortless medium-bodied portrait and equal length.”
95/100 & Top Rank Award (Gabrielle Poy, The Real Review)
“It’s smooth, almost velvety and dances across the palate, finishing with a lovely chew of dark chocolate tannins. Great wine, effortless in its delivery.”
Ranked No.2 Best Adelaide Hills Shiraz/Syrah 2022 vintage (The Real Review)
94/100 (Gary Walsh, The Wine Front)
“Justifiably called ‘Syrah’, given the style of it, though I’m a big one for calling a Shiraz a Shiraz. 10% new oak. Puncheons. A little whole bunch. Red and black fruit, grilled meat and black pepper, baking spices, quite aromatic too. Medium-bodied, ripe cherry, blue fruit, lots of spice…Very nice.”
Named after an abstract sculpture the winery is home to made out of Macclesfield pink marble – a stone specific to the southern part of the Adelaide Hills. The real masterpiece is in the bottle though. Drink now to 2032.
