Main Divide may be the second tier label to the world class Pegasus Bay winery but don’t jump to any conclusions – this is a secondary label that punches above its weight.
Main Divide is the name given to the mighty Southern Alp range, nicknamed the “backbone of the South Island” by some southerners.
Scoring 4 Stars with Michael Cooper in his NZ Listener column, he said “Fresh, youthful and well-structured, this is a distinctly medium style of riesling. Bright, light lemon/green, it has incisive, peachy flavours, appetising acidity and a finely balanced finish. Strongly varietal, with obvious potential, it’s well worth cellaring to mid-2026+. “
And we’re backing this wine all the way – as far as Riesling goes it’s a total classic that we just simply love. A touch of sweetness and a wee bit spritzy. Simply delicious and an absolute perfect match with spicy Asian cuisine.
