Sensational stuff from Sicily! Dangerously easy drinking and mouth-wateringly delicious. It’s fair to say this red is a lot like the Mediterranean climate it grows in – hot!
The grape is Nero D’Avola and it’s the most planted variety on the island of Sicily, off the coast of mainland Italy. As well as making it in to Decanter Magazine’s recent “39 Great Sicilian Wines To Try” article, it’s also had plenty of big ups from local wine scribbers since it landed on our shores…
“If you think the label’s sexy, check out the vino behind it. It’s a mystery how the Sicilians pack this much flavour into $20 worth of wine” (Joelle Thomson, The Dominion Post)
“An irresistible wine filled with sweet fruit flavours” (4 1/2 Stars, Sam Kim, Wine Orbit)
“This is a textbook Nero d’Avola with ripe blue fruit flavours and a soft, textured mouth feel” (4 Stars, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews)
No need for food with this gloriously gluggable drop – but if you do want to open it at the dinner table try it with grilled meats, casseroles and cheeses.
Damn, you're looking young for your age!
