The first thing you do when you start your own winery is take a good look around for something to name it after, usually a hill, a mountain, a road, or if you’re especially lucky a bay. These guys obviously had nothing but mud, so they built a house out of it and named it Mud House. Brilliant.
Mud House HQ is based in Marlborough – but Marlborough’s a big old region though which is why they decided to narrow things down a bit and focus on specific sub regions found in NZ’s largest wine producing region. And oh boy they’ve nailed it with Omaka. This is an area well known for produced seriously good Marlborough Chardonnay with guys down the road like Brancott’s Letter O Series and Saint Clair’s Omaka Reserve having carved out big reputations over the years for their quality.
A lightly creamy style Chardonnay with a touch of oak. Thinking of pairing this Chardonnay with a feed? Try sage butter roasted chicken!
Damn, you're looking young for your age!
