Wai (water) Para (sediment) – aka Muddy Water!
Muddy Water wasn’t created in a marketing room somewhere in the big smoke, it was named after the land the wine’s crafted from. Simple as that. The name might not sound all that fancy but the wine certainly is. Produced by the crowd at Greystone and taking an entirely down to earth approach to wine making, certified organic and all hand crafted.
Named after a family friend (James Hardwick) who was so barmy for this style of wine he convinced the Thomas family (owners of Muddy Water) to produce a high quality, Alsace style Riesling. The vines are from cuttings from the first ever Riesling planted in Waipara, which produced Corban’s Amberley Riesling, a cult wine back in the 80s.
Medium dry in style, full and rich. Simply divine. Image us doing a fingertip kiss right now. No wonder it scored full marks (5 Stars) from Raymond Chan as well as a Gold medal at the NZ Organic Wine Awards 2015 – one of only two Rieslings to take top marks!
