They are one of the true legends of the story of wine in Aussie and although they’ve been a bit quieter in recent times it’s fair to say the legends of Orlando are back!
With a history dating back to 1874 and winner of over 1,000 top end awards since the 1980s these legendary wine labels have been given a new lease of life and we’re stoked to see them back on our shelves! We’re talking about legends like Centenary Hill Shiraz, Lawsons Padthaway Shiraz, Jacaranda Coonawarra Cabernet and the Steingarten Eden Valley Riesling.
This is the 2015 vintage of Orlando Centenary Hill Shiraz from the Barossa and it is an absolute beauty. It’s had all round big praise from three of The Real Review’s top critics…
95/100 (Bob Campbell MW)
“Intense, elegant shiraz with masses of dark berry, vanilla, wood-smoke, chocolate-mocha, five-spice and French oak flavours…A seriously good shiraz with great cellaring potential.”
94/100 (Huon Hooke)
“It’s certainly full-bodied, solid and dense. The tannins are lavish yet supple and ripe. A big, generous wine, with excellent cellaring potential.”
93/100 (Ralph Kyte-Powell MW)
“It’s a big, brawny red made with lashings of oak input imparting an overlay of coconut, caramel and toffee to a core of ripe berry fruit. All that charry wood makes its presence felt on the palate too, which is full-bodied, ripe-flavoured and lingering.”
A legend made with the cellar in mind. Try tucking this one away up until 2035.
