Only 3,000 bottles of Penfolds Great Grandfather are produced each release – selected from the finest reserve wines maturing in their Kalimna Tawny Cellar with an average age of 20 years. The blend is then given another 10 years to mature in oak giving it an average age of 30 years.
Packaged in a lockable Penfolds Great Grandfather branded gift box, the bottle is wax sealed and comes complete with Penfolds branded glass cork stopper stored in a small box hiding in a sliding compartment in the bottom of the gift box, included is a presentation booklet explaining the Great Grandfather story.
An intense, complex tawny that stacks up as one of the best. Australia’s best known wine scribbler James Halliday has scored the Great Grandfather a stunning 97/100 in both 2013 and 2014!
