Penfolds Max’s Chardonnay

Having nearly exhausted nearly every three number combination in their Bin series Penfolds thought long and hard what to name their next creation after. Then hey presto – how about the guy who actually came up with the Bin series?

Max Schubert. Penfolds Chief Winemaker for 37 years, created the Bin series with the launch of Bin 28 in 1959, created Grange (now regarded as one of the world’s most collectable wines), mastered the art of multi region blending. It’s fair to say then, what a legend!

This is Penfolds to the max (in more ways than one) and a Chardonnay showing all its class. Using Adelaide Hills fruit, this is an elegant rather than blockbuster style. It received a huge score of 95/100 from James Halliday, who said “A delicious display of pear, apple, grapefruit and white peach flavour.”
