Open wide…here comes the Tigermoth….nnneeaoowww!
Named after the 1930s British military aircraft the de Havilland Tiger Moth. You see, one day at Rockburn HQ in Central Otago (one very slow day by the sounds of things) an employee took it upon himself to name every fermentation vessel in the building after a military aircraft!
They were so damn impressed with this wine they named it after the tank it was fermented in – the Tigermoth!
Inspired by the world famous “Spätlese” wines of Germany (lighter in alcohol, slightly sweeter styles balanced with fresh, crisp acidity) this is an absolutely top notch example by one of Central’s super star producers.
Awarded 94/100 and a Top Value award by Master of Wine Bob Campbell, who called this one “Delicious moderately sweet riesling with citrus-lime, white rose petal and saline-mineral character. Tangy acidity restrains sweetness and builds a pleading tension to give a mouth-watering finish.”
Chilled down this makes the perfect wine to serve as an aperitif – or food match it with cheeses or spicy Asian cuisine.
