Rojo (full name Rojo Granrojo Garnacha and pronounced “rock-o”) was one of the original Spanish blockbusters that exploded in popularity once Kiwis got a taste of these rich, juicy, crowd-pleasing Spanish reds that offer some incredible bang for buck.
First the first time ever Master of Wine Steve Bennett has now brought Rojo’s big brother to NZ – think of it like Rojo on steroids!
Made by the guys and girls at the Navarro López winery using Garnacha from 40 year old vines in southern Spain. As Master of Wine Bob Campbell calls it – “Rich, juicy garnacha with plum, dark berry, spice, anise flavours and an appealing savoury-earthy character. A satisfying rustic red.”
Highly drinkable by itself but if you’re looking to pair it with a feed we’d recommend serving it with red meat dishes, pâté and cheeses.
Damn, you're looking young for your age!
