The blend might be traditional but this cut throat clearance pricing is anything but!
The importer of Rosemount Estate wine in NZ has had to make the tough call of trimming back their portfolio – something had to give and this is it! Originally pitched in the NZ market in the $25-30 price bracket the "Traditional" label is named after the classic red blends from Bordeaux – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a splash of Petit Verdot.
From an awesome 2012 vintage in the McLaren Vale (rated 9/10 by Aussie’s leading wine critic James Halliday) this is a red of real class with some seriously impressive accolades that make a mockery of this $15 price point…
Trophy – Best Value Red (Royal Sydney Wine Show 2015)
Trophy – Best Cabernet blend (McLaren Vale Wine Show 2014)
93/100 & Special Value (James Halliday)
Gold medal & 97/100 (Royal Sydney Wine Show 2015)
Gold medal (McLaren Vale Wine Show 2014)
Silver medal (Int’l Wine Challenge 2015)
Silver medal (Int’l Wine & Spirit Comp 2015)
How often do you come across Double Trophy, Double Gold, 97/100 rated Aussie red from a legendary vintage for just fifteen bucks? It’s why we didn’t muck about in grabbing every last box available in NZ of this deal that borders on ludicrous!
Randall the Rosemount winemaker summed up this wine nicely – "Some varieties are made for each other…blackcurrant and tobacco leaf of Cabernet Sauvignon, juicy plums of Merlot and finally the inky floral notes of Petit Verdot. All of this wrapped in fine, supple, mouth-watering tannins, producing a long, elegant finish. This wine will happily mature for another ten years with careful cellaring, but why wait?"
