The Satyr. Part man, part goat, tails, legs and horns.
In honour of this freakish Greek mythological creature the guys and girls at Sileni Estate went and produced a freak of their own disguised under a delicious, award winning Hawke’s Bay Syrah.
From the vintage of legends (2013 in Hawke’s Bay) this crazy beast went and took out a jaw droppingly impressive Blue/Gold medal (judged with food) at one of the world’s top wine shows – the Sydney International Wine Competition. It impressed the panel of judges so much they even went and pick it as one of their Top 100 wines from the show. Here’s what a few of them had to say…
"This wine is beautiful"
"Very well finished and nice tannins"
"Quite fragrant. Very peppery and spicy"
"A big berry fruit nose. Rich and ripe."
"A really pretty style of wine. Lots of fresh raspberries and red berries on the nose."
This label was originally produced exclusively for the Aussie market – we’ve sweet talked our way into hooking into the final cases they had stashed at Sileni HQ. This is a hell deal on a quality Syrah so hook in.
Pair it up with good old New Zealand beef and lamb dishes or a hearty pasta – drinking superbly now but has the legs to last for eight years from vintage (2021).
