From the Golden State of California in the USA comes Sebastiani Zinfandel, consistently one of the most popular Zinfandels on the market for its price point. Year after year this label always delivers!
Zinfandel (some cool kids just call it Zin) is California’s speciality and, a bit like the people that live there, you get all sorts. From dry, spicy, heart-warming styles to ones that have a high level of sweetness to them. Sebastiani Zinfandel is medium bodied and full of flavour – lush, juicy, ripe red berry fruitiness plenty of sweet spice. If you’re new to this style this is a great place to start.
Produced in the Sonoma County by a winery started by an Italian immigrant in the late 1800s. During the prohibition days Sebastiani were one of the few places still producing wine – for religious or medicinal purposes of course. It’s probably why they reckon numbers at the local churches sky rocketed!
These days it’s under the ownership of American billionaire Bill Foley. Uncle Bill also owns a number of NZ wineries like Mt Difficulty, Te Kairanga and Martinborough Vineyards.
