Steve Voysey, he’s absolutely Gisborne through and through. For years he was making wine for the big boys (Montana) by making the Letter “O” for Ormond (Chardonnay) and “P” for Patutahi (Gewurztraminer) but these days he’s making letters of another kind. V for Voysey.
Voysey’s main focus is on his own label, Spade Oak, and quite clearly loving every minute of it. “There is a world of difference between waving goodbye to your fruit as it’s driven away in a truck and seeing things all the way through to a bottle of wine with your name on it.”
This is his premium Co-Ordinates label and if you love Gewurz you are in for an absolute treat here – using fruit from the same Makuri vineyard from back in the day. After all, anyone that remembers the P for Patutahi label from the 90s and 00s was sheer class.
A medium to full bodied, rich and fragrant style with gingery, spicy flavours. An absolute perfect pair with spicy Asian cuisine if we ever saw one!
